Half A Million Dollars for a Doctor in Australia

While one side of the globe is offering a Million Pounds to prove that the Loch Ness Monster exists, on the other side, an Australian town surgery center was offering half-a-million dollars in upfront money to a General Practitioner willing to work in the community for 5 years.

500,000 in Australian Dollars translates to $423,620 in American green bucks (June 2007 exchange Rates).

Now, $500,000 in Aussie Dollars for service over 5-years - is that a good deal ? Hmmm...I had already posted the latest figures on public domain salaries for Australian physicians. Looking that up, considering the average figures for a General physician were $1500 a week or $390,000 over 5 years, having half-a-million bucks in upfront cash that could possible be invested wisely and be worth more..sounds like a good one.
