Physiotherapist / Physical Therapist Salaries
As they say, no health care professional will ever be out of employment - everyone needs a health-fix at some time or the other. Physical Therapy has established itself as an indispensable and supportive part of clinical health care all over the world. Docs 'prescribe' physical therapy for conditions like stroke, cystic fibrosis, post-immobilization recovery, etc.
Here's a birds-eye view across the US of how much Physical therapist earn ...(The bird's gotta be real high up to see all these cities at once ;-) )
A 2008 CNNmoney article enlisted Physician Assistants 5th on its list of best careers to have in a recession in the US and noted an average national income of $67,000 a year !
For internationally trained (foreign-trained) Physiotherapists (PTs) in USA, apparently Green Card is much much easier after the US National board exams are taken - they don't need permanent labor certification unlike foreign doctors ... [wow] ...Here are the physical therapists who qualify for that :
1. PT with a 4 Year Bachelor Degree in Physical Therapy, or equivalent, and,
2.
A: PT with a State License, or,
B: PT with a letter from the State Licensing Authority for the state of intended employment stating that the Foreign National Physical Therapist is qualified to take that state's written licensing examination for Physical Therapists.

Job demand for physical therapists is pretty high in the USA at the moment, but being a physical therapist needs about 5-7 years of schooling in the USA - people who don't wanna invest that amount in time often consider becoming PT assistants and PT aides instead. At a national level, physical therapy assistants (PT assistants) earn an average income of $38,000/- a year, while Physical Therapy Aides (PT Aides) make about $21,000/-, as per this news article.
The demand for Physical therapist will continue to grow in the aging population of the United States as "Baby Boomers" begin to retire from work in huge numbers from 2010.
