NEUROLOGIST SALARIES (Medicine + Surgery)

Neurology (Medicine)

New York = $204,000/-
Los Angeles = $197,000/-
Houston = $182,000/-
Seattle = $186,000/-

Lately, Neurology has become another favourite with IMGs with many programs sponsoring H1s / J1s and not being too tough to get in. Earlier, upto 2005-2006 (2006 match), neurology residency applications were required to be submitted via the SFmatch matching program - however, starting 2007 match, neurology applications will be accepted from the regular NRMP - ERAS match itself :-). Read more about that Here.

And here are the average incomes for NeuroSurgery ..

Neurology (Surgery)

New York = $396,000/-
Los Angeles = $ 382,000/-
Houston = $352,000/-
Seattle = $360,000/-

can 1 yr of family medicine serve as a preliminary yr?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5/11/2009) :

Fellowships are available for every subspecialty, though not every residency program will offer those fellowships.

As far as salaries, the way reimbursements and many practice plans are set up, it does not pan out to any significant difference, at least where I am. Getter off picking what interests you the most.

If income is a #1 priority, I would shy away from Neurology.
